MINOR FIRES
A backfire through the carburetor is believed to have caused a fire that severely damaged a tractor in the yard of McSkimming and Son, Ltd., 322 Tuam street, yesterday morning. One machine from the Central Fire Station attended at 6.13 a.m.
Slight damage to the paintwork of the kitchen in a house at 13 Lloyd street, Fendalton, occupied by P. A. Laird, was caused by an oven fire which broke out at 1.31 p.m. One unit from St. Albans attended. Units from the Woolston and Central Stations attended a rubbish fire on the property of the Kiwi Bacon Factory, Cuthberts road, at 2.29 p.m. There was no damage.
A grass fire which broke out by the railway line near Annex road. Sockburn, was attended at 5.15 p.m. by units from the Sydenham and Central Stations, together with the Paparua County Council’s fire tender.
