HALSWELL SUB-CENTRE The report presented at the twentyfourth annual meeting of the Halswell sub-centre of the Red Cross Society said that 103 articles had been made and forwarded to the North Canterbury centre. Fruit, vegetables, and flowers had been given to the Good Neighbour Service, and decorated tins for sweets for Christmas parcels. Members had helped with the annual market and street day collection and also arranged a competition. There had been a flower show, and a film evening raised more than £57 for the funds of the sub-centre. During the year the following contributions had been made:—assessment, £11: Good Neighbour Service. £5; Soldiers’ Disability Fund, £5: Christmas parcels for patients in Burwood Hospital. £1 ss: Halswell Hall committee for use of building, £l. The officers were re-elected.
