LONDON METALS MARKET
Courtaulds Interim Report.—Courtaulds (Aust.), Ltd., operated profitably for the first six months of the current year, state, the directors in an interim report. Full production was maintained in the viscose yarn spinning section, while the tyre fibre weaving equip ent worked almost to capacity. Bene, cial effects of the expansion of the viscose yarn section should be felt during the latter part of the current six onths. Improved business of the rayon weaving industry had brought about an increase in the demand for acetate textile yarn in heavier deniers. Competition from synthetic yarns in the knitting industry, however, had affected sales of the fine denier yarns. The company was still waiting for an announcement o. the result of the Tariff Board inquiry into acetate textile yarns. The interim report makes no mention of a dividend, or of the dividend prospects of the company.
