Y.W.C.A. CLUB ACTIVITIES
CLASSES IN BALLET BOR CHILDREN INCLUDED The various clubs of the Christchurch Y.W.C.A. have begun activities for the year. Miss Rosemary Barlee. programme, secretary, said .yesterday that this year’s programme provided a wide variety of interests for women and also girls of all ages, especially for secondary school girls, who now had their own club, and for business girls. Some of the activities included classes in ballet for children on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Each Friday at 4 p.m. the school girls meet for games, singing, drama and craft. For business girls under 20 there is a hostess course, and tuition in crafts and national and folk dancing. Badminton is played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, table tennis on Tuesdays and basketball on Thursdays. On the first and third Thursdays of the month the Merry Wives Groun meets at 8 p.m., and the Mothers’ Club members hold their meetings at 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
During Easter week-end, Miss Barlee said, there would be a leadership training camp for young business girls at the Blue Triangle camp at Spencerville. and a stay-at-home camp for schoolgirls in the May holidays.
