SAVING FISH FROM SUFFOCATION.—A motor circular saw being used to cut through the thick ice on the ponds at the Czechoslovak State-owned fish culture establishment at Hluboka, on the Moldau river. More than 1,000,000 fish are kept in the ponds. The holes cut in the ice ensure a sufficient supply of oxygen and also movement of the water.
