HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE AT CHEVIOT
BUCKET BRIGADE CHECKS FLAMES
Three rooms and a veranda of a wooden house in Cheviot, owned by Mr J. Withers, were burnt in a fire that broke out early on Saturday morning. There was no wind to spread the fire, and strenuous efforts made by a bucket brigade confined the fire to one side of the house. Volunteers removed much of the furniture and effects, but some was damaged by smoke and water.
