SALE OF FIJIAN NEWSPAPER
CONTROL BY SYDNEY FIRM “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, March 12. AU the shares of the Fiji Times and Herald Company, Ltd., have been bought by Mr R. W. Robson on behalf of Pacific Publications Pty., Ltd.. Sydney. Mr Robson is managing director of Pacific Publications Pty., Ltd., and the Sydney and Melbourne Publishing Company, Ltd. He is well known in Fiji as editor and publisher of the “Pacific Islands Monthly,” and was at one time in journalism in Masterton. The sale was negotiated by Mr A. R. Pearce on behalf of Sir Alport Barker, who now lives in Auckland. Sir Alport Barker founded the “Western Pacific Herald” in 1901, and early in 1918 bought the “Fiji Times,” merging the two papers under the title of “Fiji Times and Herald.” The new directors of the Fiji Times and Herald, Ltd., are Mr R. L. Munro, who was a director of the company under the previous ownership; Sir Hugh Ragg, Mr H. Maurice Scott, and Mr F. W. Robson. Mr Robson has been appointed managing director, and has assumed full control of all the publications and activities of the “Fiii Times and Herald.” J
