SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION The sound financial position of the North Canterbury District Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows was shown in the annual report of the lodge’s ninety-third conference, held in Christchurch on Saturday. During the year, investments were increased from £97.000 to £108.500, and assets from £lBO,OOO to £200.000. The district had made good pro-
gress in 1955, the report said. A predominance of young members taking an active interest in the organisation was shown by the large number of members of the tramping club. The following officers were elected. District Grand Master. Mr J. Houghton; deputy district grand master, Mr W. C. Harris; district secretary, Mr
H. R. Peers; district treasurer, Mr M. J. Paulger; immediate past district grand master, Mr C. D. Le Comte; district committee. Messrs R. H. I Price, C. M. A. Thompson (past district grand masters), A. T. Hill, W. [Hughes, E. N. Price and E. W. Staple|ton (past grandmasters).
