CONSTRUCTION DELAY DEPLORED The Ministry of Works will be asked by the Canterbury Progress League to let a con‘ract for the b n'ding of a thermal swimming pool at Maruia in t«me fc.r work to begin next spring. This was decided at a meeting of the league’s execu'ive last evening, after advice was received from the Tourist and Publicity Department that tenders submitted for the work had been considered to be in excess of the estimated cost, and that all had been rejected. The letter said the Ch-istehurch office of the Ministry of Works was arranging to call fresh tenders. “I think it is to be deolorcd that the department has not accepted «ny tender because it will be another ' year be ore anything can now be I done." said the secretary of the league 1 (Mr T.
