DISPUTE OVER KASHMIR
(Rec. 8 p.m.) KARACHI. March 6. Pakistan today brought ner eight-year-old Kashmir dispute with India into the South-east Asia Treaty Organisation. contrary to the wish of Britain, which maintains that SEATO is not the appropriate organisation for consideration of the complex questions involved.
Mr Hamidul Chowdhury, the Pakistan Foreign Minister, raised the issue from the chair in a secret discussion on Soviet intentions in the SEATO region, delegates said. The secret session followed the opening of the conference, at which the American Secretary of State (Mr Dulles), the British Foreign Secretary (Mr Selwyn Lloyd), and French Foreign Minister (Mr Christian Pineau), spoke of the defensive aims of SEATO and the need to counter Soviet tactics by economic co-operation.
