IMPRISONMENT FOR BIGAMY
“BAD OFFENCE OF ITS KIND ” (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 6. Donald Topp, aged 34, a taxi driver, appeared for sentence for bigamy yesterday before Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court. He was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment. The Magistrate said there was little to be said in Topp’s favour. “This is a serious offence against the sanctity of marriage and against the basis of our social structure.” he said. “You have breached that sanctity, and of its kind it is a bad offence.”
