OHIO BEATEN BY SPREYDON The surprise of the Canterbury Softball Association’s knock-out tournament, which commenced at English Park on Saturday, was the elimination of Ohio, winners of the men’s senior championship, by Spreydon. Ohio, conceding a three-run handicap, failed to find their best form, and lost the game, 12-9. In the women’s senior knock-out competitions, Monowai had an overwhelming 32-3 Win over Spreydon after a one-sided game. Results were:— Men Senior.—Ohio 13, Linwood 9; Christchurch 9. Papanui 4: Christchurch 7, Avon Royals 2; Spreydon 12. Ohio 9. Senior Reserve.—Christchurch 9. Spreydon 3; Richmond 15, Avon Royals 7. Junior.—T. College A 25, Templeton 19. Papanui 20, Linwood 17; Spreydon 22. United 21; Richmond 14, L.D. Saints 9. Women Senior.—Linwood 19. Vanguard 11; Monowai 32, Spreydon 3. Intermediate.—Hagley 15, Korowai 4; Monowai 30, Linwood 11.
