SOUTH AFRICAN DEBATE
Minister Ordered To Leave House (Rec. 8 n.m.) CAPE TOWN. Feb. 17. The Minister of the Interior (Dr. Fben Donees) was asked to leave the House todav after making an interjection while a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament debated the Government’s plan to remove coloured (mixed blood) voters from the common electoral roll. The Sneaker (Mr Johannes Conradie) also asked two other members—one from the Government side and one from the Opposition—to withdraw. This was the first time anyone could recall a Minister being asked to leave the Chamber. No member ordered to leave may return until the following day. A United Party Opposition member. Mr P. V. Pocock, was making a critical reference to Dr. Donges. who had just spoken in the debate, when the Minister remarked quietly: “I did not expect that from you.” Opposition members drew Mr Sneaker's attention to the infringement of the rule he had sai t he would apply firmly during this debate. Dr. Donges was ordered to withdraw. Members were startled into silence after the expulsion of two others.
