CURRENT NOTES

Mrs A. Widgery presided at a meeting of the West of England Women’s Association, the first held since the holidays. Several members told of humorous experiences they had had during the holidays. A programme of meetings and more picnics was approved. Mrs R. S. Storie was compere and accompanist for an enjoyable afternoon concert which she and her party gave recently at the Sydenham Pensioners’ Friendly Club. Songs were sung by Mesdames G. Harrell. R. Thompson. P. McWilliams: elocutionary items were given by Miss F. Calvert, and sketches ■were performed by Mesdames Foster and Wills. Mrs Ross Wilson gave a talk on “Rock Gardens’’ at the February meeting of the Shirley-St. Albans Garden Club, at which Mrs J. K. Moloney presided. Kaiapoi.—The February meeting of the Kaiapoi Country Women’s Institute took the form of a garden party, held at the home of Mrs Tourell. A variety stall did good business.
