VICEREGAL (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 24. On Thursday morning, the Gover-nor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) and Lady Norrie will leave Wellington by air for Dunedin, where they will go into residence at St. Leonards. Their Excellencies will return to Wellington on February 24.

The Hon. Mr Justice Gresson will arrive in Christchurch tomorrow. He will hear civil cases in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week and will preside at the criminal session of the Supreme Court in Christchurch which will open on Tuesday, February 7.

The United States and Pakistan delegates to the SEATO conference in Melbourne this month (Admiral Felix B. Stump, U.S.N.. and RearAdmiral H. M. S. Choudri, R.P.N.) arrived by air in Christchurch yesterday. They were greeted by Mr H. R. Lake, M.P., on behalf of the Government, and inspected a guard of honour at Harewood airport before motoring into Christchurch. Admiral Stump, who .flew in his private aircraft, brought back to the Dominion the chief of the New Zealand General Staff (Major-General C. E. Weir), who also attended the conference. General Weir later flew to Wellington. Admiral Stump and Admiral Choudri will leave for Wellington by air today.

My N. Kesavan, First Secretary in the office of the Indian High Commissioner in Wellington, is attending a conference of Indian diplomats in Canberra, and will return to Wellington on January 31.—(P.A.) Squadron Leader J. V. Lili, of the Royal New’ Zealand Air Force Active Reserve, has been appointed to command the aviation and ammunition park—a task force unit—in the Auckland area. Squadron Leader Lili was well known as a Regular Air Force officer before he transferred to the Active Reserve.—(P.A.)

Mr M. Melchoir, who has been appointed Danish Charge d’Affaires in New Zealand, is expected to arrive in Wellington with his wife and family about April 2. Mr E. Trolle Hansen, who has been acting-Charge d’Affaires, will then return by air to Denmark.— (P.A.)

Mr Edwin H. S. Hamilton, who has been the secretary for Heritage (Canterbury) since the formation of the branch in 1943, has announced his retirement as from March 31.
