SOUTHLAND CAR RACE

SEVENTEEN ENTRIES FOR MAIN EVENT (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, January 23. Seventeen entries have been received for the Southland Centennial international car race to be held on a triangular course at Ryal Bush on February 11. The latest entries for the 150-mile event are from T. Sulman, of Australia, who will be driving an Aston Martin, and T. E. Clark (Auckland) with a Maseratti. Late entries in the 43-mile sports car event are J. P. Hayes (Invercargill), Jaguar, and Croydon Motors (Christchurch), Bogward.’ There have been two further entries for the 30-mile saloon car race —J. P. Hayes (Vanguard) and Marian Hayes (Invercargill) Morris Minor. Officials expect that up to 40,000 persons will watch the race if the weather is fine. The course, about three miles long, is a triangular one and farmers with property bordering on it have made paddocks available for spectators.
