PLOTS SMASHED IN ARGENTINA

PERON SUPPORTERS ARRESTED

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) BUENOS AIRES, January 22. The Argentine Government said today that it has discovered plots in two western provinces by troublemakers still faithful to the former President Peron. The authorities in the Jujuy Province, on the Bolivian border, arrested 25 people in the city of San Pedro. Police making raids in San Juan, capiI tai of Sun Juan province on the | Chilean border, said they seized leaflets giving orders for sabotage and other trouble-making. Directions for burning crops, public transport and buildings were included. An undisclosed number of persons were arrested. Scanty reports from the interior indicate that none of the military were involved in the alleged conspiracies, which apparently were smashed before they got going. The revolutionary Government which deposed Mr Peron in September has been staging a series of raids and investigations to wipe out remaining pockets of Peronista resistance. Some disaffection has been uncovered in the military ranks, largely at the non-commissioned officer level.
