WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Rolleston.—Eighty-three children of the district were entertained at a Christmas partv arranged by the Rolleston branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Gifts from the Christmas tree were presented to the children by Father Christmas. Sprays were presented to Mesdames Pearce, Fraser, Lowe, and Wilson. A competition was won by Mrs Boys. Mrs Fraser thanked members for making the afternoon such a success. Christchurch.—A Negro minstrel entertainment by the choir, under the leadership of Mrs W. Vennell, and Christmas carols were enjoyed by members of the Christchurch branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers at their monthly meeting. Mrs H. W. Clark presided and welcomed Mrs R. G. Wolff, who has returned from a trip overseas. The hostesses were members of the committee. Greenpark.—At the monthly meeting of the Greenpark branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, Mrs L. P. Dulieu presided. Members brought an assortment of wool, to be sent to the lepers. Members displayed articles of interest from other countries. A gaily decorated Christmas cake, given by Mrs Thornley, was cut. Competition results were:— Lettuce: Mrs Thornley 1, Mrs L. Hubbard 2 and 3. Sponge roll: Mrs Thornley 1, Mrs Washboyrne 2, Mrs Gibbs 3. Spray: Mrs Watson 1, Mrs Washbourne and Mrs Thornley (equal) 2. Mrs Dulieu 4. Large bloom: Mrs T. Hubbard 1, Mrs Woods and Mrs Gibbs (equal) 2, Mrs Williams 4. Small bloom: Mrs T. Hubbard 1, Mrs L. Hubbard 2, and Mrs T. Hubbard 3. Tea towel: Miss Woods 1, Mrs M. Watson 2, Mrs T. Hubbard 3. Spike: Mrs A. Larsen 1, Mrs Craw and Miss Woods (equal) 2, Mrs Rickerby and Mrs Thornley (equal) 4. Cluster: Miss Woods 1, Mrs Williams 2. Mrs Watson 3.
Hoon Hay.—Mrs Rountree presided at the monthly meeting of the Hoon Hay branch of. the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. A Christmas party was held, carols and items being contributed by the members. Competition results were:—Small bloom: Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Boswell 2. Mrs Keith 3. Mediyto bloom: Mrs Keith 1, Mrs Boswell 2. Large bloom: Mrs Keith. Spike or cluster: Mrs Keith 1, Mrs Taylor 2, Mrs Boswell 3. Posy bowl: Mrs Charman 1, Mrs Taylor 2, Mrs Boswell 3. Six pods of peas: Mrs Luke 1, Mrs Taylor 2.
Darfield.—The December meeting of the Darfield branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers took the form of a garden party at the' home of Mrs L. Ashwell. Arrangements were made to assist the Federated Farmers with the supper arrangements for a complimentary social to Sir William Mulholland, who has been 50 years a Farmers’ Union member. A competition for a teddy bear made and given by Mrs S. R. Oldridge was won by Mrs J. Blamires. Monthly competitions were:—Golliwog: Mrs A. Bringans 1. Mrs S. Oldridge 2. Strawberries: Mrs W. McKay 1, Mrs J.. Gunn 2, Mrs J. Syme 3. Costume spray: Mrs R. S. Gunn 1. Mrs Oldridge 2. Mrs W. McKay 3. Savouries: Mrs R. S. Gunn 1.
