Fine Surfing Record Of Le Cren Family
A remarkable record of service to surf life-saving in Canterbury is that of the Le Cren family. All are members of the Taylor’s Mistake Surf Lifesaving Club. Keith Le Cren was a member of the old Waimairi Club before the last war, and his wife. Rene (formerly Miss Agassiz) gained her surf award as a member of the Sumner women’s team in the late 1920’5. Helen and Jeffrey, the younger members of th? family, are both carrying on the family tradition. and have already established an enviable record in swimming and lifesaving. Helen has been a Canterbury junior representative swimmer, and has several times been a member of th? winning Taylor’s Mistake womens team. Jeffrey has held a Canterbury under 10 swimming title, and. has the ability to emulate his sister’s example. He is a meitibcr of the Taylor’s Mistake “Junior Juniors.” All members of the family tak? a very active interest in surf life-saving, and both Keith Le Cren and his wife have acted as manager and chaperon? respectively for Taylor’s Mistake trams at national championship meetings. Keith Le Cren is also a member of th? Canterbury Surf Life-saving Association.
