(N.Zk Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, January 6. More evidence of the growing success of the British Government’s credit squeeze on hire purchase activities in the motor trade is given in figures released by Hire Purchase Information. This organisation regularly records credit business in motor vehicles. During December. 46.369 contracts were registered. This was 6319 contracts, or 12 per cent., less than in November, and only 4063 contracts, or 9.6 per cent, above the level of December, 1954. The “Financial Times” says that this increase over a previous year is the lowest for almost two years, and continues the downward trend which became evident after the middle of last year. “Since the peak of 87.842 contracts registered last July, the increase in business over the year has fallen steadily—except for the pre-Budget rush in October—from 51 per cent in July to 9.6 per cent, last month.
