SOUTHLAND CAR TRIAL
CHRISTCHURCH ENTRY WITHDRAWN DELAY IN UNLOADING VEHICLE FROM SHIP A Skoda sports car entered bv Messrs K. A. Sorrell and A. W Dickson. of Christchurch, in the Southland centennial reliability trial has been withdrawn. Attempts to have the car unloaded from the New Zealand Shipping Company’s cargo ship Haparangi in Auckland in time for competition have failed. The car was shipped from Czechoslovakia about three months ago. “Negotiations with the shippincompany to have the car unloaded at Aucklanc were unsuccessful, although ■we approached’later both the Czeehoc?nsul and Mr H. R. Lake M'T'' Mr Sorrell yesterday Mr Sorrell said that by the time the vessel arrived in Lyttelton—it is due on Monday—it would be too late tor the event.
