(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)
(Rec. 11.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 5. Wool and wool tops prices were likely to advance sharply in the New Year, Bache and Company, a New York brokerage house, said today in a report on the world market. The key to the price picture, the report said, was the Australian auction market, which is scheduled to open on January 9. Meanwhile, the report said, wool to processors had sold well into the New Year.
It seemed fairly certain that they would have to purchase heavily in the coming weeks to meet commitments. .The demand for wool in the United States remained strong with supplies limited, the report said. Domestic consumption for apparel wool in November, for' instance, totalled 5,534,0001 b, an increase of 1,000,0001 b from the level a year before.
