Ealing Studios Sold
(Rec. 10 p.m.i LONDON, Jan. 5. A film director today shouted "Cut” —and the last film to be made at Britain’s famous Ealing Studios was “in the can.”
Since the war the studios, headquarters of the Michael Balcon Organisation, have become a byword for British film confedies. But today filmmaking stopped there for good. The British Broadcasting Corporation has bought the studios for £350,000 for television production. The final act of the Ealing story will be staged soon, when an exotic array of “props” and equipment is auctioned.
