BANJO’S CHANCE AT GREYMOUTH

SELECTION FOR DASH HANDICAP

Banjo, a stablemate of Nipalong, one of the probable favourites for the main race, the Spring Handicap, js selected to win the Dash Handicap, the main sprint race on the first day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s spring meeting at Victoria Park today. Banjo gained an easy win over Loyal Jane and Gold Direct at Orari last month, and he will not be meeting much stronger opposition today. With a reasonable run, he should win.

Lille Bolero, a candidate for the Spring Handicap earlier in the day, is another horse which should appreciate the sprint distance. The U. Scott mare has a useful turn of speed, and she should be hard to beat.

The Templeton, trainer, D. G. Jones, will parade a useful bracket in Virtuous and Worthy Globe, both of which have plenty of speed. Unfortunately, neither of them is reliable, but if they race up to their best they will have prospects. Charlotte Bell, Spring Valley, and Red Hackle are others expected to show to advantage.

Greymouth had another fine day yesterday, and prospects for today are good.
