OFFICIAL FORECASTS , “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, October 20. The weather forecast issued at 9 p.m by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Sitoation.—A complex low-pressure area lies to the east of New Zealand, and a ridge of high pressure over the Tasman Sea is moving eastwards on to the country. Forecast Inland Marlborough an J Nelson.— South-westerlies, f.esh in exposed areas; scattered snowers about the ran es, otherwise mainly fair weather, but temperatures cool. OutIfcot: fair, but cloud increasing. Ccastal Marlborough.—Fresh to streng southerly winds, with frequent showers in the morning, but weather gradually improving later; temperatures rather cold. Outlook: fair. Westland and Buller.—Moderate winds from a southerly quarter; a few scattered showers early, but becoming fair; temperatures cool. Outlook: fair, but cloud increasing. Canterbury.—South-westerlies, fresh In the morning, but moderating later; showery and rather cold, but weather improving slowly from the south in the morning. Outlook: fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a strong south-west wind, moderating in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 60.6 degrees. At midnight, the sky was cloudy, and there was a three-knot wind from th? south-west- The temperature was 49.9 degree-. The barometer, at 29-8 inches (1009.1 millibars), was rising steadily.
