JOHNNY GLOBE IN FORM

IMPRESSIVE TRIAL AT EPSOM

"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Oct. 20. Johnny Globe was the star performer on the outside of the course proper, which was holding, at Epsom this morning, when he paced one mile and a half in 3min 41sec, the mile and a quarter in 3min, and the last half-mile in Imin 6 3-ssec. The presence of several visiting horses gave' a keener interest to the trials. There was nothing between Tui Scott, Prince Polka, and the trotter, Vagus, at the end of two miles. Tui Scott, which went away 4sec ’ behind the others, recorded smin, the last half-mile in Imin 10 3-ssec. Patrick Earl shaded Goldina at the end of 10 furlongs in 3min 2sec, the last halfmile in Imin lOsec. Petite Yvonne, with Sue Scott, which finished in front, and Beau Marie as pacemakers with good starts, passed one mile and a half in 3min 41sec, the first mile in 2min 41sec. Pelorous trotted solidly over two laps, trotting the last half-mile attractively in Imin 8 3-ssec. Great Evander paced the last four furlongs of his work in Imin llsec, and Te Atatu, unhoppled, accomplished a similar task. Lassoloc (C. R. Berkett) and Scotch Girl (J. Bryce, jun.) worked soundly on the shell, as did Deveron and Light Nurse. Rowan Star, Demimond, and Lucky Spot were restricted to easy tasks. GREYMOUTH CLUB

NIPALONG EXPECTED TO RACE WELL The Methven owner-trainer, C. V. May, looks to hold a strong hand with Nipalong in the Spring Handicap, the second leg of the double, on the first day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s spring meeting tomorrow. The Young Bob gelding raced well from long handicap marks at Forbury Park recently, and, off the front tomorrow, he must be conceded. a great chance. On his day Nipalong is more than useful, and he is long overdue for a win.

Lille Boloro, which is trained at Nelson by G. H. Gates, failed to show much dash in her races on a heavy track at Hutt Park last month, but on firmer footing at Greymouth tomorrow, she can be expected to do better. She has raced well on previous visits to Greymouth. Kierlock showed a fair turn of speed when he finished ninth in his race at New Brighton on September 17 and, if he begins well, he should add interest to the finish.

Grattan Bay, which will be racing on his home track, Black Rose, and Spring Valley are other useful pacers likely to do well.

Eden Bridge has been withdrawn from the Spring Handicap and the Dash Handicap, and Erin McCoy has been withdrawn from all engagements at the meeting. The weather has been fine in Greymouth lately and, unless there is heavy rain, the track will be in perfect order. EDEN BRIDGfE INJURED IN TRAINING RUN The Reefton-o.wned and trained Eden Bridge will not race on the opening day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s spring meeting tomorrow, and it is doubtful whether he will be able to start -on Monday.
