MR E. B. CORBETT ILL
REST ORDERED BY DOCTOR (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 20. With the completion of the legislative programme for his portfolios last night, the Minister of Lands (Mr E. B. Corbett) left for his Taranaki farm under medical orders to rest. Acting Ministers have been appointed to be in charge of his portfolios until January. Mr Corbett has been indisposed for some weeks, but during the current session has been in charge of five bills and a heavy programme of estimates for the portfolios he administers. The Prime Minister (Mr Holland) today expressed the sympathy of members of the Cabinet and of the Government members of Parliament with Mr Corbett, with hopes for his speedy restoration of health. References to Mr Corbett’s illness were also made today at a caucus of the Government party. During his absence, Mr Corbett’s portfolios have been allocated as follows: Lands, the Minister of Railways (Mr J. K. McAlpine): Maori Affairs, the Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan); State Fire, Government Life Insurance, Earthquake and War Damage, the Minister of Health (Mr J. R. Hanan).
