WIN FOR BIG SOUTH AFRICAN
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, October 19. The huge South African boxer, Ewart Potgieter, beat the Jamaican, Noel Reid, by a technical knockout in the third round of a scheduled 10-round heavy-weight contest at Harringay arena last night. Potgieter, 7ft 2in high and 2201 b, had physical advantages over Reid. He forced Reid to give ground with a succession Of ponderous chops to the chin and the referee stopped the fight. In the same programme, Yolande Pompey (Trinidad) knocked out Yvon Durelle (Canada) in the seventh round of a smeduled 10-round light heavy-weight bout.
