WARNING TO HUNTERS

FIREARMS AND DOGS IN WILDLIFE REFUGES (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 19. A warning to hunters and shooters that it is .illegal for anyone to take firearms or dogs into wildlife refuges was issued today. The Department of Internal Affairs said that even though hunters might have no intention of hunting in a refuge, but were merely passing through it with firearms or dogs, they were still committing an offence. “AU wildlife refuges are being clearly marked as such,” said, the department. “Although the notices show that it is an offence even to have possession of firearms in the refuges, many persons are stiU wrongly convinced that, by not actually using firearms there, they are committing no offence.”
