BOOT REPAIRERS’ AWARD
AGREEMENT REACHED IN CONCILIATION (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 19. A pay increase of 2Jd an hour was agreed to in Conciliation Council yesterday in the Northern, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson, Westland, and Canterbury footwear repairers’ and bespoke workers’ dispute. -Before the Wellington Conciliation Commissioner (Mr H. M. Hopper), the parties reached complete agreement on a new award, which includes one week’s extra annual holiday for workers after 10 years’ service. The increase brings pay rates to 5s 2|d an hour for adults and 5s 3{d for bespoke workers, both rates plus 13 per cent.
