PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

PRAISE FOR SUCCESS OF TOURNEY Praise for the outstanding final of the New Zealand women’s golf championships and for the manner in which the tournament was conducted by the Christchurch Ladies’ Golf Club was given by toepresident of toe New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union (Mrs L. R. Curtis) when the trophies were presented yesterday. Mrs Curtis said the tourney had been m<wt satisfactory, and it was doubtful if a better final could be seen. It was a fine display by two expert golfers, going to the last hole, and although it must nave been trying to the players, it was a fine spectacle for those watching. “ w e have been very fortunate to have the British team with us, and I feel the visit will do much good for golf in this country,’’ Mrs Curtis said. “We don’t have as many players and, according to one authority. New Zealand is short of women, so we wish that the team could stayCongratulating the winners of trophies. Mrs Curtis said that she also wished to congratulate those who went home with nothing and the Christchurch club for its hospitality. The course had been perfect. and she did not think there could be any complaints. The preparation by the greenkeeper was first class. Replying, the president of the Christchurch Ladies’ Club (Miss E. M. B. Nutt) said that the players had helped the committee greatly in its work.
