Mao Hopes To Visit Japan

(Rec. 10 p.m.) TOKYO, October 19. The Communist Chinese leader, Mr Mao Tse-tung, has expressed willingness to visit Japan if invited, according to Japanese press reports today quoting four Japanese Parliament members who arrived in Hong Kong yesterday after a three-week tour of China.

They said Mr Mao had told them he would be glad to visit Japan if invited. He had added with a smile that he did not intend to conduct Communist propaganda or to incite disturbances if he visited Japan. They also said China would release Japanese war criminals who are ill, old, or sentenced to short terms, before the end of the year.
