Man Chased Up Big Ben.— Hundreds of Londoners today watched a man clamber up the 320 ft tower which houses Big Ben, with the police after him. They saw him climb one ladder after another up the scaffolding which has been placed round the tower while repairs are being made. Inside the tower, perspiring policemen and firemen were racing up the 280 steps. Near the top, a policeman grabbed a 41-year-old man. They persuaded him to come down and took him to hospital for observation.—London. October
