PETROL STORAGE AT KAIKOURA
DAIRY COMPANYS NEW INSTALLATION
The first bulk storage installation for petrol in Kaikoura by the Kaikoura Co-operative Dairy Company will come into operation at the company’s unit on Beach road soon. The petrol will be taken to Kaikoura in Railway Department rail tankers and be piped direct to the dairy company’s storage tanks.
The main supply to Kaikoura is decanted from drums and the company’s scheme will result in an estimated reduction of 2d a gallon to its suppliers, who now pay 3s 6d a gallon from the company’s bowser at the factory and 3s 5d in drum lots. The current ordinary rate in Kaikoura is 3s 7d a gallon.
