NEW DENTAL DIRECTOR
APPOINTMENT OF DR. J. B. BIBBY
30 YEARS’ SERVICE WITH HEALTH DEPARTMENT
(New Zealand Press Association). WELLINGTON, October ?. Dr. J. B. Bibby, D.D.S. (Penn.), 8.A., Dip. Sot. St., has been appointed Director of the Division of Dental Hygiene in the Department of Health. He Will take over his new duties from the retiring Director, Mr J. Saunders, in January. Dr. Bibby was born at Waipawa, Hawke’s Bay, and was educated at the Waipawa High School, Otago University, and Victoria University Coiffuring World War I he served for a year in the Army in New Zealand. He joined the Department of Health in 1925, and in 1936 went to the United States to the University of Pennsylvania, where he took his doctorate.
Before returning to New Zealand Dr. Bibby travelled in the United States, Canada, Britain, Scandinavia, and Russia to study dental services. He was in charge of the Dental Nurses’ School in Wellington for 'some years until 1945, when he was appointed Deputy-Director of the division. In that capacity he has been responsible for the school dental nursing service during a decade when the service has expanded greatly. In 1948 he attended the eleventh Australian Dental Congreia, and presented a paper on the State service in New Zealand.
