INTER PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, August 29. Making its first appearance at a national table tennis tournament, Franklin caused a minor surprise by beating Northland by 7 matches to 5 at the inter-provincial championships at Napier this afternoon. Post-sectional play will end tomorrow, with semi-finals tomorrow afternoon and finals in the evening. Results:— Men First Round.—Section 1: Wellington 12. Bay of Plenty 6; Otago 11, North Taranaki 1.
