KILLER GULLS

Some . Mid-Canterbury farmers report serious destruction of lambs by seagulls. As a rule the gulls pick the eyes out of one of twins of newlyborn lambs whilst the ewe’s attention is niomcntarily distracted from one or the other. One farmer last week encountered a number of lambs, all twins or triplets, which the gulls had killed by pecking at the soft spot on their heads.
