The Company decided to set aside a dav to enable all its Staff to attend a function designed to promote acquaintance, while providing a programme of mutual interest and -instruction. Firm transport from construction camps throughout the province brought the men in while town workers, office staff and executives converged at midday on the appointed assembly place. Luncheon was followed by an afternoon session of addresses by guest speakers recognised as specialists in their particular fields. Also shown were films of topical material and company activity. After a short adjournment, staff again assembled with wives and partners to enjoy a six o’clock party and buffet tea before going on to the theatre.
