NEW RATES FOR TAXI HIRES
FEES FOR SPECIAL SERVICES INCREASED CHARGES AUTHORISED (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 11. New Dominion-wide taxi rates for weddings and funerals and hourly and night hires have been approved by the Commissioner of Transport (Mr H. B. Smith). The charge in the first hour for a fully-dressed wedding car is now £2 7s 6d, with 12s 6d for each additional half-hour or part of it. For a partly-
dressed car, the new rate is £1 15s and 10s 6d; and for a plain car £1 7s 6d and 8s 6d. For each additional mile run in excess of 10 iriiles in each hour (or five miles an additional half-hour), an additional charge of 6d a mile may be made. Previously, the hire for plain or partly-decorated cars was 15s an hour, with a minimum charge of £l. For decorated cars, an additional charge of up to 10s could be made. Hourly rates for. special purposes, such as shopping, will be calculated at -4s 3d for each 15 minutes, with a minimum charge of 17s. There is also an extra charge of 6d . for 20 minutes’ waiting time in addition to the existing charge of 6d for ! every five minutes. For funerals, the charge for the first hour will now ,be £ 1 2s 6d, with 4s 3d for each extra quarter-hour. For each , mile more than 10 miles aji hour, ’ there will be a charge of 6d a mile. ; Previously, a taxi could be hired for
s a funeral at the rate of 15s an hour, s with a minimum charge of £l. Between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., a charge - of Is 6d, instead of Is, may be added r to the normal hire charge. , Any appeals against the Commise sion’s decision must be lodged with the Transport Department on or ber fore August 26.
