Liquid Fomite Tested.—Tests were carried out at Lyttelton yesterday morning of a liquid fomite plant recently installed on the oil wharf. Among those who watched the tests were the harbourmaster (Captain A. R. Champion), Mr S. Carson (chief fire officer bfFthe Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade), members of the staff of the Harbour Board, and Representatives of oil companies. The liquid replaces the power fomite previously in general use, and is introduced into the water pipeline through a funnel. It is claimed for the liquid fomite that it is quicker to use.
