CEMENT SHIPMENT OF 6560 TONS
The 6560-ton shipment of English cement being discharged from the Innesmore at Lyttelton should more than satisfy the demand for cement in Christchurch. According to advice received by the secretary of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr R. T. Alston) from Cement Importers (N.Z.), Ltd., the shipment, which is 1000 tons more than was expected, will create a reserve store of 2000 tons to be held as buffer stock. Another vessel is scheduled to come to Lyttelton at the end of the month with cement. The firm believes that the market will not be able to absorb tlx estimated 5000 tons to be discharKed. This should ensure a fujj supply for all user*.
