WEIGHT-LIFTING RECORD
PERFORMANCE BY RUSSIAN (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) WARSAW. August 9. Vladimir Stogov, of Russia, broke the world weight-lifting record in press, snatch, and jerk (bantam-weight) by raising a total of 325 kilogrammes (716.51 b at the World Youth Games yesterday. He raised 102.5 kilogrammes (225.91 b in the press, 97.5 kilogrammes (214.91 b in the snatch, and 125 kilogrammes (275.61 b in the jerk. ’ Th’e previous record of 315 kilogrammes (694.71 b was set up by Nandyou, of Persia, six years ago.
