EASY WIN FOR WELLINGTON
29 9 VICTORY AT MASTERTON R. A. JARDEN SCORES 23 POINTS (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, August 10. R. A. Jarden proved a real matchwinner for Wellington when it beat a combined Wairarapa-Bush side by 29 points to 9 in a Rugby match played at Masterton today. Jarden scored 23 points, made up of three tries, four conversions, and two penalty goals. Wairarapa held Wellington for much of the game with dogged tackling, but in the concluding stages the speedy Wellington back line really shone. The last quarter of an hour produced 18 points in a whirlwind of scoring. Wellington led 8-6 at half-time, after Wairarapa-Bush had led for most of the speH. The combined team could not match the visitors’ speed towards the end. The Wellington forwards showed surprising mobility in the loose, and were superior in the line-outs. Besides Jarden’s pointe, D. D. Wilson and I. Tarplev each scored a try for Wellington. For Wairarapa-Bush, B. Allen kicked two penalty goals and R. Hayward scored a try.
