REGULATIONS TO BE AMENDED

"The Ceblnet has approved the preparation of regulations which will permit licences to be granted to growers to sell fruit grown by them at pro-perly-authorised municipal markets." said the Minister of Agriculture <Mr K. J. Holyoake) today. “I recently discussed with the Cabinet the position that had arisen after the opening of a municipal market in Wellington.” said Mr Holyoake. “The Cabinet invited me to discuss with the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation gnd the Apple and Pear Marketing Board the possibility of the situation being met by an amendment to the Apple and Pear Marketing Regulations. During the last week representatives of these two bodies and of the Wellington Housewives’ Association have met in my office. “As a result of these discussions the Cabinet has now given further consideration to the question, and has come to the decision I have announced," the Minister said.
