Duff, Canterbury’s : I hopes in the line-outs, will not join j the team until August 12 at Welling- , ton, and their absence from the forwards will probably be. felt tomorrow. : !• Other notable absentees are N. 1 Roberts and E. McGuigap, the captain of the Wanganui team, will be remembered !by Canterbury enthusiasts as a former 'Christchurch club and Country lock 'forward of a few years ago. He captains a \well-knit side, which should i provide Canterbury with plenty of (opposition. J. Karatau, the Wanganui hooker, should have a keen duel with D. Young. Karatau was selected as the North Island’s second string to the All Black hooker, R. C. Hemi, in the inter-island match this year. v There has been considerable rain in the district during the last few weeks, but the ground at Spriggins Park has dried well, and if no further rains falls, should be in excellent order tomorrow.
