ACTION AGAINST DOCTOR
Removal From Roll Sought PRISON TERM FOR MANSLAUGHTER (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 8. An application by the General Medical Council, with the consent of the Attorney-General, to have the name of Senga Florence Whittingham removed from the roll of medical practitioners, on which she is provisionally registered, has been laid with the Supreme Court at Dunedin. The hearing of the application is set down for Friday, and it is understood that it will be contested. Mr Justice Henry will preside. Whittingham, a 27-year-old house surgeon from the Dunedin Public Hospital, is at present in Mount Eden Prison serving a term of three years’ gaol imposed on her by Mr Justice McGregor at-the February sessions of the Supreme Court at Dunedin. She had been found guilty of manslaughter after trial on a charge of murdering Dr. John William Saunders in the house surgeons’ quarters at the Dunedin Public Hospital on December 12 last. Mr J. B. Deaker will appear in support of the application, and Mr A. J. H. Jeavons will represent Whittingham
