COASTAL VESSEL BOUGHT
TAURANGA-AUCKLAND SERVICE (New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, July 23. The coaster Nikau, of 97 tons, has been bought by the Northern Steamship Company. Originally owned by an Auckland syndicate, the Kiwi Shipping Company, the vessel has been under charter to the Northern company for some time. It has been used mainly on the Auckland-Tauranga and Auckland-Whakatane runs.
The general manager of the Northern company (Captain A. G. Handy) said the vessel had been bought to improve the coastal service between Tauranga and Auckland. c
