HEAVY FROST
: 11 DEGREES RECORDED IN CHRISTCHURCH Christchurch had its second heaviest frost of the winter on Wednesday night. At the Magnetic Observatory in the Botanic Gardens, the grass mini-<l mum thermometer showed a frost of 11 degrees. At Harewood airport there was 12.4 degrees of frost. On Monday night the Magnetic Observatory recorded a frost of 11.1 degrees, and Harewood had 13.4 degrees. These are the lowest readings so far this winter. There were frosts of similar intensity in other parts of the South Island during Wednesday night. Parts of the North Island had light frosts. At Mechanics Bay. Auckland, there were three degrees of frost.
