Copper Thieves Wreck Railway Signals

Thieves ripped out copper wire signal connexions, and dislocated rail ser- • vices between Cronulla, Caringbah and Gymea, outer Sydney suburbs, early today. More than 70 pieces of copper power connexions were stolen, cutting off • power to signals at the three railway An emergency staff was rushed to the points to keep traffic moving with manual signals. It was four hours before the damaged signal systems were repaired. Scrap copper is valued at 3s per lb, and each stolen cSble. about 4ft long and 3in thick, weighed about 21b a yard. ____________
