Workers’ Drive For Five-Day Week

(Rec. 8 p.m.) BRUSSELS. July 6. More than 640,000 Roman Catholic workers belonging to the Belgian Confederation of Christian Trade Unions will strike every Saturday from this week to support their claims for a five-day working week. The strike, called by the confederation’s congress in Brussels last night, also aimed at obtaining a guaranteed minimum wage of 20 francs (about 3s) an hour.

Several private firms and municipal administrations recently adopted the five-day working week for the firs! time.
